Your application for an endorsement for the Global Talent visa for the UK will need to be submitted online. As part of this application, you will be required to supply the supporting documents requested by your chosen Endorsing Body.
The process works slightly differently for digital technology applicants, who will need to upload their supporting documents via Tech Nation’s own application form. If this describes your situation, you are urged not to send these documents to the Home Office.
Please note that if the Home Office suspects any of your submitted supporting documents may not be genuine, it is entitled to request the original documents. The scanned documents will then be forwarded to the Endorsing Body for their consideration.
You will also need to supply the following specific documents when applying for the Global Talent visa for the UK:

If you are relying on an endorsement by an Endorsing Body for your application for a UK Global Talent visa, you are allowed to submit your stage-two application before the first-stage application has concluded.
You may choose to do this, for example, if you are already in the UK, but your permission is due to expire. In this situation, you will wish to ensure you do not overstay in the UK. If you do take this route, the Home Office will hold your stage-two application until a decision has been made on your stage-one application.
If you depend on being endorsed as part of your bid for the Global Talent visa, but you submit a second-stage application without having lodged a stage-one application, the Home Office will accept your stage-two application. However, the application will be placed on hold, and a member of staff from the Home Office will contact you to request that you send a stage-one application within 14 days.
Provided that you then fulfil this request and have a stage-one application with the Home Office within that 14-day window, the stage-two application will be held until a decision has been made on your stage-one application. If, however, you do not send a first-stage application to the Home Office within those 14 days, your second-stage application will be rejected, on the basis that the application isn’t valid if you don’t also hold a valid endorsement.
There are various requirements that a candidate for a Global Talent visa must satisfy in order for their application to be valid. These include – but are not limited to – the application having been made on the correct form, the necessary fee and Immigration Health Charge having been paid, and the applicant having been issued with a valid endorsement letter or won a prestigious prize of those accepted by the Home Office.
It is crucial to ensure you meet all the validity requirements for this visa category when lodging your application, to ensure the Home Office does not reject your application for reasons that could have been avoided.
If your stage-two application for the visa from outside the UK is refused, you will not be able to appeal against the decision. However, you do have the option of applying for an administrative review of the decision, if you believe the Home Office has made an error in its consideration of your application. It is important to familiarise yourself with the Global Talent visa UK endorsement requirements that apply to the specific route you choose to take, including what documentation you will be expected to provide. Our central London-based solicitors can assist and advise you on this point.
Different Endorsing Bodies have different requirements when it comes to the documents they might request. In the case of an Arts Council England (ACE) application, for instance, the body assessing the application will be either ACE, the Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television (PACT), the British Fashion Council (BFC) or the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The application form will state which sub-endorser will be considering the application.
If the endorser will be ACE itself, you will be required to supply three letters of endorsement – one from a UK-based arts or cultural organisation, one from an arts or cultural organisation, institution or company that may or may not be UK-based, and one from a third arts organisation or from an eminent individual with recognised expertise in your field. You will also be expected to provide up to 10 pieces of supporting documentation.
Candidates for an endorsement for the Global Talent visa for the UK who are applying through Tech Nation, meanwhile, will need to provide three letters of recommendation from three different well-established organisations acknowledged as experts in the digital technology field, along with a CV. They can also provide as many as 10 pieces of information to demonstrate that they satisfy the qualifying criteria.
It is possible to apply for the Global Talent visa for the UK without needing an endorsement at all, if you have won an eligible award from the list of prizes detailed on the GOV.UK website. Otherwise, you can expect to need to rely on an endorsement from a Home Office-approved Endorsing Body when applying for this visa.
If you are among those relying on an endorsement, the ‘first stage’ of the application will be for the endorsement, while the ‘second stage’ of the application will be for the visa itself. The Endorsing Body will assess whether you are a leader or potential leader, so this is a crucial part of the process of obtaining a Global Talent visa.
It is generally expected that you will apply for an endorsement before you then apply for the visa. However, you may choose to submit your stage-two application prior to receiving a decision on your first-stage application – for example, if you are already in the UK and your permission to remain in the country is due to expire, in which case, you may be anxious to ensure you do not overstay in the UK while awaiting a decision on your application. If you do lodge a second-stage application before the first-stage application is decided on, the Home Office will hold the stage-two application until it has made a decision on your first-stage application.
In the event that you make a second-stage application without having first made an application for a Global Talent visa UK endorsement, the Home Office will accept your stage-two application and place it on hold, and will ask you to submit your stage-one application within 14 days. If the department does not then receive your stage-one application within that 14-day window, your stage-two application will be rejected, on the grounds that your application for this visa will be invalid in the absence of a valid endorsement.
This UK Talent visa enables you to live and work in the country for up to five years at a time. If you wish to remain in the UK for longer can this, and you are not applying to settle in the country, you will need to secure an extension – or ‘renewal’ – of the visa before it expires. Provided that you do obtain such an extension each time it is due, there is no limit to how long you can remain in the UK in total as a holder of this visa.
If, however, you wish to use this visa as a route to settling in the UK – a status known as ‘indefinite leave to remain’, or ILR –this may be possible for you after three or five years, depending on the field in which you work, and how you apply.
Being granted indefinite leave to remain will entitle you to live, work and study in the UK for as long as you like; you will also have the right to apply for benefits in the UK, if you are eligible for them.
As a holder of the UK Global Talent visa, you will be allowed to apply for settlement if you satisfy any of the below conditions:

There are also certain circumstances when applications for indefinite leave to remain may be refused by the Home Office. These include if the applicant:
If you wish to eventually apply to settle in the UK – a status also known as ‘indefinite leave to remain’, or ILR – as the holder of a Global Talent visa, one of the requirements for this is to have spent no more than 180 days outside the UK in any 12-month period. This is called the ‘continuous residence’ requirement.
This is not the only requirement if you intend toapply for ILR as a Global Talent visa holder. The other criteria for applying for ILR on this visa include having won an eligible award or endorsement that has not been withdrawn, still doing paid work in the field you arrived in the UK to work in, and passing the Government’s Life in the UK Test.
